As suspected, I really have nothing to blog about.
I could take pictures of the leaves in the park near my house where I go walking, but they honestly aren't that impressive.
I could talk about the many books I'm reading--I re-entered YA Fantasy, decided I do like Kristin Cashore and think Fire is actually better than Graceling, but then switched over to dark mystery/noir stuff--I'm just about through Dave's collection of Dennis Lehane, and Elmore Leonard is next. After that (for those don't take very long)...I don't know...there are dozens of books I have tried and tried to get through and am embarrassed to have failed at (One Hundred Years of Solitude, A Winter's Tale, Lolita) but I don't think I'm going to be any more successful at it now than when I felt more inclination and significantly more intelligent.
I'm trying to limit the television watching--I allow myself one Netflix disc at a time, I devour it, and send it on. In an indication of what my taste is like these days, I'm watching True Blood (amazing that I haven't already seen it, but there you are). Man, that is One Trashy Show. If somebody who watches Dollhouse says "she left the house wearing that?" about a show, then its trash factor must just be off the charts. (At least Dollhouse has an excuse--they are prostitutes, after all. Sookie (pronounced like Bill does, "Suckeh") is supposed to be a good girl.) I think the characters' motivations make NO SENSE--why would Tara have any use for a guy like Jason, however nice to her he was when they were kids? And why do people keep dying and nobody really seems to care all that much? Jason's girlfriend (or closest thing to it) dies, and all he can think of is how to avoid getting in trouble for it?
Granted, I'm only halfway through Season 1. Maybe these things get explained. I kinda doubt it though. Which isn't to say that I'm not enjoying the show--I watch it with my mouth gaping open, with a kind of fascination at the badness of the show lying right alongside the kind of goodness--not even in a so bad it's good kind of way, but in a wow, that's trashy, but then there's a really good Lucinda Williams song, and that's some funny dialogue, oh dear, they're naked again.
Anyway, you see what I'm reduced to blogging about.

Emily and I have been watching True Blood and that feeling of "Well that's pretty cool but that's just dumb" feeling never really goes away. We watch it more for the side characters (Lafayette, Eric, and a character that gets introduced later) then the main ones. I just find Sookie and Bill annoying.
Alright, I'm going to stop now before enter a long diatribe .
