I'm pregnant. Heh.
Looks like it's about seven or eight weeks--I haven't had my first prenatal visit yet or anything. We found out, and we went to Hawaii to tell my family. Heh.
Doing a little mental math and making use of a handy internet calculator, I think we're looking at December 19th. Which is right around the time my sister-in-law, Kate, is due. Heh.
I feel...many things. Very excited, deeply anxious, horribly nauseous, somewhat scared, and generally happy. For the first couple of days after we found out, it was all I could think about. "There's a baby over there." "I'm pregnant." "What should I have for breakfast?" "I'm pregnant." "I'm tying my shoes now...because I'm pregnant." I'm a little calmer now--it only takes up, say, 75% of my brain space.
We told the kids last night. They've named the baby "Roo" for now. So freaking cute. This morning as we were going to school, I got a goodbye from RockNoodle, and Roo did too. Toaster wants a brother he can hang out with, and I'm all, it's going to be a looooong time before any hanging out will be happening between you guys. Oddly, I don't care that much. I thought I would--I've had this very firm desire for a girl for, oh, ever. But now it just doesn't seem to matter.
And there is Roo. Not much to see yet, obviously. I'm wearing my cute new jeans today--figure I might as well wear them while I still can.
It was also a trial by fire. Damn. Talk about going cold turkey right away--on that trip, all of my favorite things were paraded in front of me, as I was forced to wave them away. Coffee, martinis, delicious Hawaiian beer, sushi, poke, wonderful cheeses, everything that is good to eat that I can't eat. Good grief.
That there is ginger beer. My Dad has Mehana Pale Ale. So unfair.
On the other hand, the ginger beer was sort of necessary. As was Ak-Mak.
Ak-Mak is my friend. We have kind of love-hate relationship at this point, in that the sight of them when I'm not nauseous fills me with pure loathing, but when I am sick--ah, Ak-Mak. You're such a dear.
And now I have to go pee.
